A Mountain View resident was arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly hitting his brother with a metal broom, according to the Mountain View Police Department.
Dispatchers received a report around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, that a fight was in progress at a residence located at the 200 block of Monroe Drive, near the Palo Alto border. When police arrived, they saw that two men, later identified as brothers, were involved in an altercation that had taken place inside and outside of the home. A window had been broken during the course of the fight, police said.
The fight started over “verbal insults” that led the suspect to hit his brother with a metal broom on his arm. There was noticeable swelling on the arm from the injury, according to police. There were no other reported injuries.
The suspect also allegedly spit on two officers when he was detained, police said.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, willfully using force or violence against a police officer and vandalism. He was transported and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail.
