Summer concert series
The 2024 Stanford Jazz Festival continues all month long at Stanford (through Aug. 3, prices vary).
Dance with Take 2 Dance Band in Atherton on July 11.
Linden Tree Books concludes its Thursday children’s summer concert series at its bookstore in Los Altos with Andy Z on July 11, Jump for Joy Music July 18 and James Henry & House of Samba Kids July 25.
San Mateo‘s Thursday night Central Park Music Series features Pop Fiction on July 11, Julio Bravo y su Orquesta Salsabor July 18 and Electric Rodeo July 25 (through Aug. 8, check website for full schedule).
Music in the Park in San Carlos features party bands Pop Fiction July 12 and Pride & Joy July 19, followed by Bee Gees tribute band You Should Be Dancing July 26.
Foster City‘s Summer Concerts on the Lagoon series kicks off July 12 with The Deep Fakes (dance/pop), followed by Pure Ecstacy (Motown) July 19 and rock band Daze on the Green July 26.
Music in the Park returns to Burlingame with Tommy Drinkard and the Remedy July 12 and Pride & Joy July 26.
Mountain View‘s Concerts on the Plaza Friday night music series includes Fleetwood Macrame July 12, Under the Covers playing electric hits and pop rock July 19 and ’80s band Fast Times Band July 26.
Rock the Dock at the Port of Redwood City features yacht rock band Mustache Harbor July 13, reggae band Native Elements July 20 and The Houserockers playing rock and dance music July 27.
Music in the Park, a Wednesday night summer concert series in Redwood City, continues with Aki Kumar performing “Bollywood Blues” July 17, soul singer Marina Crouse July 24 and Lady & the Tramps playing rock and blues covers July 31.
Catch Menlo Park‘s summertime concert series with ’70s tribute band The Billy Martini Show July 17, Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble playing zydeco and blues July 24, Michael Jackson tribute band Foreverland July 26 and Fog City Swampers performing rock with Southern and blues themes July 31.
Kids Rock!, Redwood City‘s summer children’s concert series, returns July 21 with Lori & RJ.
Movie nights
Mountain View‘s summer outdoor movie series continues with “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” in Sylvan Park July 12, “Elemental” in Stevenson Park July 19 and “Kung Fu Panda 4” in Whisman Park July 26.
Redwood City‘s Movies on the Square series includes the BraveMaker film festival July 11, double features of “Elemental” and “National Treasure” July 18 and a BraveMaker Film Fest short film followed by “Barbie” July 25.
The city of Palo Alto‘s Family Movie Nights series continues with “Wish” on July 12 and “Migration” July 19.
Munch on free popcorn and cotton candy while watching “Arthur the King” outdoors in Atherton July 19.

Menlo Park’s Summer Puppetry Festival continues with Puppet Art Theater: “Tommy’s Pirate Adventure” July 11 and The Puppet Company presenting “Anansi the Spider” July 28.
Colma celebrates its centennial with a fair and parade on July 13.
Over 120 artists showcase their ceramics and glass art at the ACGA Clay & Glass Festival in Palo Alto July 13-14.
The Los Altos Arts & Wine Festival returns for its 45th year July 13-14.
The 2024 Peninsula International Dance Festival July 20-21 in San Mateo features over 250 dancers and musicians across 20 Bay Area companies performing traditional dances spanning five continents (tickets $30-$60 with discounts for seniors and youth).
The Mountain View Buddhist Temple hosts its Obon Festival & Bazaar July 20-21, which honors loved ones who have died and celebrates how they continue to influence our lives. The event will feature food, cultural exhibits, taiko performances and dancing.
The Santa Clara County Fair returns July 25-28 and Aug. 1-4 in San Jose under the theme “From the Fields to the Future,” commemorating 80 years of local innovation.
The Just Imagine Chalk Festival July 27 in Daly City will feature 18 chalk artists, live plein air painters, a kids’ chalk zone and craft area and a live DJ.
Outdoor recreation
Run or walk in the Lookin’ For a Cure 5K July 13 in Palo Alto, which raises funds to support ocular oncology research ($35/person registration fee).
Foster City hosts its annual City-Wide Yard Sale July 13.
Pub in the Park returns July 13 for the second of four summer Saturdays in Redwood City with an inflatable pub serving beers and ciders, live bluegrass music, food trucks and lawn games.
The Dream Machines team is hosting the inaugural Dream On car show with beer and wine, a food truck and musical performances July 21 at Pillar Point Harbor in Princeton-by-the-Sea (motorcycle registration $20, car registration $30).
The ninth annual Technology Showcase returns to Mountain View, with an opening panel July 24 and exhibits July 25 in Civic Center Plaza.
Show off your pickleball prowess at the South City Summer Classic pickleball tournament July 27 in South San Francisco benefiting the South San Francisco Police Association’s Survivor Benefit Foundation ($35 registration fee).
The 13th annual Saratoga Classic and Cool Car Show will take place July 28 in downtown Saratoga (car registration $75 plus fees).
