While the summer solstice isn’t until June 20, the start of June kicks off a series of annual festivals, concerts, outdoor movie nights and other summertime festivities that run through September. Here’s our running guide to June happenings to help you keep track of it all. Events are free unless otherwise noted.

June 1

Pride Month kicks off with a full slate of festivities throughout June. Find our events roundup here. Bargain hunters, get up early and head to Palo Alto for its annual citywide garage sale. The 90th San Mateo County Fair debuts Great American Duck Racing this year, along with a mix of new and familiar festivities, June 1-9 in San Mateo (closed June 3-4; prices vary). Pub in the Park returns for the first of four summer Saturdays in Redwood City with an inflatable pub serving beers and ciders, live bluegrass music, food trucks and lawn games. Head to the Coastside for the Half Moon Bay Wine & Jazz Festival for tastings from 50 California winemakers ($75/person plus fees). PV Palooza summer music festival returns to Portola Valley.

June 2

Byrd’s Filling Station in San Mateo is celebrating its second birthday with a panel of speakers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

June 6

Redwood City kicks off its Thursday outdoor Movies on the Square series with a double feature of Disney’s “Wish” followed by a special singalong version of “Grease” (through Aug. 29, check website for full info).

June 7

San Mateo‘s citywide garage sale runs June 7-9. The city of Palo Alto‘s Family Movie Nights series starts with “Trolls” (select nights through Aug. 16, check website for full info). Mountain View‘s Concerts on the Plaza Friday night music series starts with The Cheeseballs (through Sept. 27, check website for full info). Springline in Menlo Park hosts a Concert in the Plaza series June 7-8 with food trucks, drinks and games (plus neon silent disco June 8).

June 8

Listen to local bands in the redwoods at the annual La Honda Fair June 8-9 in La Honda. Check out 150 cars and motorcycles at the car show in downtown Redwood City.

June 9

June 12

Leave work early for the Taste of Mountain View, a food, beer and wine walk in downtown Mountain View ($40/person plus fees for food only, $70/person plus fees for food and drinks).

June 13

Linden Tree Books returns to its roots as a children’s music store with its Thursday summer concert series at its bookstore in Los Altos (through July 25, check website for full info). Catch a screening of “Migration” at Leo J. Ryan Park in Foster City (come early for lawn games).

June 14

Shop from fine arts and crafts vendors at ART on the Square in downtown Redwood City. Music in the Park in San Carlos, a Friday night summer music series, kicks off at Burton Park (through Aug. 2, check website for full info).

June 15

The Biggest Little Air Show returns to Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos for a day of radio-controlled airplane demonstrations and displays (free admission for kids 4 and under, $14 for youth and seniors, $21 for adults). Menlo Park hosts its Juneteenth celebration with live music, food and raffle prizes.

June 16

Join Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition for the Father’s Day Family Ride in Mountain View, where cyclists will ride to Cuesta Park to play games and pet therapy dogs.

June 19

Music in the Park, a Wednesday night summer concert series in Redwood City, starts June 19 with Top Shelf (through Aug. 21, check website for full info).

June 20

The 2024 Stanford Jazz Festival begins with “Jazz Inside Out with Jim Nadel and Friends” at Campbell Recital Hall at Stanford (through Aug. 3, prices vary). San Mateo‘s Thursday night Central Park Music Series kicks off with reggae band Native Elements (through Aug. 8, check website for full info).

June 21

Hop on your bike for the Solstice Family Fun Ride in Mountain View featuring two routes, including a family-friendly ride for young cyclists.

June 22

Bring your pup for an afternoon of beer tasting at Bark n’ Brewfest in Burlingame, a benefit for Peninsula Humane Society ($60/person through June 21, $65 on June 22). The Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance vintage car show runs June 22-23 in Burlingame ($70/person general admission). The fifth annual Juneteenth Community Festival returns to Los Altos for an afternoon of art, music, food and drinks. Shoreline Lake in Mountain View hosts the Summer Sailstice Celebration with skippered sailboat rides. Books Inc. Mountain View holds its warehouse sale June 22-23 with new books priced at $5-$10 and up to 70% off gifts and games.

June 23

Join local animal shelters at Springline Menlo Park for Super Pets Day with pet adoptions, a pet costume contest, food trucks and live music.

June 29

Los Altos History Museum hosts its Apricot STEM Fair with family-friendly, hands-on STEM activities, apricot-themed games and food from Tal Palo and tours of the Los Altos Heritage Orchard (admission $10, free for museum members and kids 12 and under). Head to Linda Mar Shopping Center in Pacifica for Movie and Dinner Night, featuring “Back to the Future” under the stars and discounted pizza.

June 30

Andy Z performs in the first in a series of summer concerts for children, Kids Rock!, in downtown Redwood City. The inaugural Foster City 5K Fun Run kicks off early at Sea Cloud Park with spots for runners, speed walkers, families, walkers and those in costumes and inflatables ($45 entry fee for adults, $15 for youth).
