Mountain View celebrates Pride Month with flag raising

The Mountain View City Council held a ceremony on Tuesday, June 11, to raise a pride flag outside City Hall to commemorate June as Pride Month.

Chris Clark, the city’s first openly gay mayor, first suggested flying a rainbow flag outside City Hall back in 2014, and since 2018, the city’s municipal code has called for flying the flag automatically each year.

Local leaders, city employees and members of the public joined all seven council members in the ceremony last week, according to the city.

“The community joined the City Council in expressing their commitment to fostering a culture of inclusion and support for the LGBTQ+ population,” the city said in a Facebook post.
