Slurp up fragrant broth from a steaming dumpling, order your 10th round of juicy steak or dig into a bowl loaded with hearty gyro and cooling tzatziki. Here are the newcomers joining the Palo Alto dining scene.
Show de Carnes Brazilian Steakhouse
Look out Fogo de Chão – there’s a new Brazilian steakhouse coming to the Bay Area. Show de Carnes offers 17 cuts of all-you-can-eat meat, a salad bar with over 50 items, an appetizer of cheese bread and side dishes such as mashed potatoes or sweet caramelized bananas. Expect to pay $73.95, unless you go for weekday lunch for $54.95 or you opt for only the salad bar for $45.95, according to its website.
Find red meats like picanha (sirloin), garlic picanha, spicy top sirloin, bottom sirloin, rib-eye, filet mignon, filet mignon wrapped in bacon and beef ribs. Seafood, pork, chicken and lamb options are also available.
Show de Carnes, with its original location in Sausalito, is replacing Cibo Restaurant & Bar along El Camino.

Kanji Sushi and Ramen
Kanji Sushi and Ramen has replaced Sushi Tomo along El Camino Way. This Japanese restaurant offers classics like bento boxes, tempura, donburi, udon and ramen, as well as a variety of sushi rolls (including a wide selection of vegetarian options), hand rolls, sashimi and nigiri.
Find chef’s specials like the Family Boat, featuring chef’s choice of nigiri, sashimi, rolls and a cold appetizer for four people ($180) or the Couple Boat for two ($99). With 48 hours advance notice, Kanji Sushi and Ramen will prepare specials like geoduck, lobster and wagyu, according to its website.

Dumpling Hours
Steamed, boiled or pan fried? At Dumpling Hours, all three are possibilities. This Chinese restaurant soft opened on Bryant Street May 27, replacing Bevri, which moved to nearby University Avenue. Palo Alto is Dumpling Hours’ fourth location, with existing restaurants in Walnut Creek, Brentwood and Oakland.
The menu features appetizers like jellyfish salad and pig ears, a variety of xiao long bao (soup dumplings), steamed buns, boiled dumplings, classic soups like wonton and egg drop, and noodles.

RH Rooftop Restaurant Palo Alto
The newest restaurant to open at Stanford Shopping Center is on the third floor of home design store RH. This opulent restaurant features floor-to-ceiling windows, stunning chandeliers and a central fountain. The menu is succinct and streamlined, featuring salads, sandwiches, and mains like charred rib-eye, whole grilled branzino and grilled shrimp. An extensive wine list features reds, whites and rosés mostly from Europe and California.
Stephen Gordon founded Restoration Hardware in 1979, selling furniture, gifts and decor. In 2001, Gary Friedman became CEO of the company, and the first Restoration Hardware restaurant opened in 2015 in Chicago. Two years later, the company changed its name to RH. RH now has restaurants in locations in major cities like New York, San Francisco, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Chicago, Dallas and more, as well as international locations.

Nick the Greek
This popular souvlaki and gyro franchise is opening a location along University Avenue late this summer in the spot that formerly housed Korean restaurant Maum. Nick the Greek offers pitas, plates, gyro bowls, salads, fries and more and has nearly 40 locations across the Bay Area and more than 75 locations nationwide.
Cousins Big Nick, Little Nick and Baby Nick Tsigaris founded Nick the Greek in 2014. On June 21, a franchise opened in San Mateo, and plans for locations in Palo Alto and Mountain View are on the way as well.

Starbird Chicken
This fast-growing fried chicken franchise began in Sunnyvale in 2016. Now, Starbird Chicken has 14 locations statewide with four more coming soon (including Palo Alto and Cupertino), according to its website.
Find chicken nuggets, sandwiches, salads, chicken tenders and more, all made with antibiotic-free chicken coated in gluten-free breading cooked in rice bran oil.
