Library reopens after malfunctioning AC forced closure
The Mountain View Public Library reopened on Friday, July 5, after being forced to close earlier this week when its air conditioning system failed during the heat wave.
The library closed on Tuesday afternoon after indoor temperatures reached the mid-80s, according to the city. It remained shut on Wednesday and was already scheduled to be closed on Thursday for the Fourth of July.
The library had been meant to serve as a cooling center this week for people looking to escape the heat. With the HVAC system repaired, the library will now serve as a cooling center from Friday through Sunday, according to a city Facebook post.
This isn’t the first time the Mountain View library has had issues with its air conditioning. The HVAC system was broken throughout the summer last year.
