JET Delivers High-Speed Wireless Broadband to Thousands of Homes & Government Offices in Botswana
November 11, 2016

RADWIN, the global wireless broadband leader, today announced that a leading service provider in Botswana is deploying a massive broadband network using RADWIN’s JET Beamforming Point-to-MultiPoint (PtMP) radios. JET is used to deliver high-speed SLA-based services to government institutions and best-effort connectivity to residential customers. GDS Botswana, a leading system integrator specializing in wireless, is responsible for project implementation.
Fritz Bezuidenhout, CEO, GDS Botswana: “This service provider is a long-standing RADWIN customer that has been using the PtMP radios to serve the government sector. When the service provider sought to expand its service footprint to deliver best-effort broadband services to unserved homes, an analysis made by GDS with the customer showed that JET delivers higher performance and lower TCO as compared to deploying DSL. JET allows deploying and scaling a new network at a fraction of the cost of deploying DSL and delivers significantly higher capacity than DSL. RADWIN’s JET Beamforming carrier-grade radios also operate in the toughest conditions including interference, non-line-of-sight and extreme weather.”
Peter Turvey, GM Africa, RADWIN: “The scope of the project in Botswana and the speed of service rollout is truly incredible. We are excited to have been chosen for this project and together with GDS we are driving connectivity throughout Botswana to homes and governments entities in the fastest, most cost-effective manner.”
