Happy New Year. Thanks for coming back to Food Party! once again. We are a potluck of ideas not only about chewing and swallowing organic matter, but also the greater things in life that feed and nourish our inspiration, knowledge and fun. I’m looking forward to celebrating 2024 with yummy food, friends, good family, and YOU.
What cha’ looking forward to in 2024? It’s time to make some plans. We keep hearing how “lonely” people are these days. One explanation could be many of us simply don’t make plans. The older I get, the more I’ve noticed many seem to want others to plan fun for them. You must put yourself out to others. One goal of Food Party! 2024 (our 11th year) is to help you incorporate a little bit more foodie fun into your life, with hopes you will share and enjoy the possibilities with others.
Dry January
First up on the Food Party! calendar is Dry January. Ok not that fun, but interesting. We’ve Food Partied! about Dry January for a few years now, with recipes for drinks and ratings of new products, so check out past blogs if you’re looking for inspiration. Here’s a few…

Support Family-Owned Restaurants in January
January is always a slow month in the restaurant world, so later in the month we’re doing a Local Flavor piece on family-owned restaurants, encouraging us all to go visit. These neighborhood establishments often go under the radar and serve up some of the best tasting food.

Global Plant-Forward Culinary Summit
In the spring we’ll feature news about the upcoming Global Plant-Forward conference to be held April 16 – 18, 2024 at the Culinary Institute of America’s Copia campus in Napa, CA. This is the It’s It’s in the “eat food, not too much, mostly plant” world. A conference where chefs, restaurants, schools and fast-food chains learn about and expand plant-forward options for their customers – i.e. all of us. Let’s talk emerging, high-impact trends and issues in the food world. The public is always invited to watch sessions online and learn from experts in the field. Food professionals are encouraged to check out the developing schedule and see how to fit this inspirational event into your spring and your career.

Expect a couple entries in our ongoing series – Travelin’ Solo. Early summer will be on the road for a camp and food trip to The Wave, Horseshoe Bend, Monument Valley, Four Corners and SW Colorado. Fall will offer a trek in Nepal – a woman’s tour of the region, culture, environment and food.
Favorites from the Past
We’d still like to re-post a few favorite blogs from the past that didn’t make it into last years’ 10th Anniversary Celebration, especially this one.
Eat out. Alone. In Public? Never!
