A spate of auto burglaries on two residential streets in Mountain View left more than a dozen vehicles with smashed windows on Friday morning last week, although only a few items were taken from vehicles, according to the Mountain View Police Department.

The break-ins occurred just off Middlefield Road, on the 500 block of Cypress Point Drive, and on the 300 block of Easy Street, on July 12, sometime between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., police said.

A resident heard windows being smashed around 3:47 a.m. on Cypress Point Drive, but the time frame for Easy Street was not as definitive, other than occurring in the early hours of Friday morning.

There were seven reported auto burglaries on Cypress Point Drive and about ten reported for Easy Street, near Whisman Park, according to a police incident report. Police said that it was likely the same crew that had broken into vehicles on both streets, based on the circumstances.

There were no clear sightings of suspects, although one person reported seeing two people in hoodies in the area of 555 W. Middlefield Road around the time of the incidents, police said.

Most property owners did not report any stolen items from their vehicles, only broken windows. The police provided a summary of some of the valuables that were taken, which included a laptop, two power tools, a backpack, a garment bag, two calculators and a Rubix’s Cube.
