A Mountain View man was arrested on Feb. 22 on suspicion of sexual battery and indecent exposure at a Walmart and Goodwill store, according to a statement by the Mountain View Police Department on Monday.
The 25-year-old suspect approached two different women in two stores a day apart from each other, police said. The first incident occurred around 11:05 a.m. on Feb. 20 when a man came up to a woman and began masturbating in front of her at a Goodwill Store at 855 East El Camino Real. The man then fled the store, police said.
The next evening, around 6 p.m. on Feb. 21, a man touched the buttock of a woman who was shopping inside Walmart on Showers Drive. The description of the suspect matched the one provided by the woman from the previous day, police said.
The following afternoon, around 2:57 p.m. on Feb. 22, police dispatchers received a phone call from a Goodwill employee, stating that the suspect had come back to the store. Police arrested him on suspicion of indecent exposure, sexual battery, lewd conduct, and resisting and delaying an officer. He was booked into Santa Clara County jail, police said.
In a follow up investigation, police learned of two similar incidents that had occurred at a CVS store in Sunnyvale in January and last November. The description of the suspect matched the man who was arrested, police said.
Concerned that there could be additional victims, police have asked the public to come forward if they have any information related to the existing cases or new ones. The public can contact Mountain View Det. Lauren Riffel, Lauren.Riffel@mountainview.gov, or Sunnyvale Det. Kira Ochoa, Kochoa@sunnyvale.ca.gov.
