Aiming at squirrels, a Mountain View resident misfired a pellet gun and shattered the window of a neighbor’s house, but did not injure anybody in the home, according to the Mountain View Police Department.

The incident occurred mid-morning on Friday, May 17, in the Jackson Park neighborhood, after a resident on Elmwood Street noticed that squirrels were eating garden plants in the yard. The resident shot a pellet gun at the squirrels, and one of the pellets struck and shattered the window of a neighboring house on the 800 block of Jackson Alley, Mountain View police said.

The neighbors did not know each other before the incident and were cooperative with law enforcement officers afterwards. The Elmwood Street resident offered to compensate the neighbor for property damages, police said.

Police did not have any information about whether the squirrels were injured from the shooting.
