Tour de Hope raises over $15K for Mountain View nonprofit Hope’s Corner
Mountain View nonprofit Hope’s Corner raised over $15,000 from its Tour de Hope 2024 fundraising event last week, according to the organization.
During the annual event, teams race to see who can pedal the farthest in 60 minutes, with each team sharing one stationary bike. This year’s Tour de Hope was held on July 19 at the El Camino YMCA and had 73 participants among 19 total teams.
Hope’s Corner serves free meals and offers warm showers to people in need in the local community, among other services.
Team Codeium won its third consecutive tour last week, pedaling 26.3 miles.
This year’s event raised more money and had more participants than any of the past three Tours, according to Hope’s Corner.

Library used book sale is coming up
The Friends of Mountain View Library are scheduled to hold a book sale to support the library on Aug. 10-11.
The sales, which happen several times throughout the year, are a chance to buy used books, DVDs, CDs, games and other media while raising money for the library.
The general sale will run from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, with an hour from 9:30-10:30 a.m. set aside for members of the group. On Sunday, the sale will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Most items are priced at $1 or less, according to the Friends of the Mountain View Library website. Sunday is a “bag sale” where participants pay $5 to fill a grocery sized bag with as many books as can fit.
The sale will be held in the garage behind the library, 585 Franklin St. For more information, visit mvlibraryfriends.org/book-sales.
