Two spots on the five-member Mountain View Los Altos High School District Board of Trustees will come up for a vote in this November’s election.
Sanjay Dave and Phil Faillace’s current terms on the MVLA school board expire this year and their seats will be on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.
Faillace told the Voice last week that he is still deciding whether to run for another term. First elected in 1996, he is the longest currently serving member of the board.
Dave, who was first elected in 2016 and is currently serving as board president, told the Los Altos Town Crier earlier this year that he doesn’t plan to run for re-election due to growing professional responsibilities. He declined an interview request from the Voice.
The nomination period for candidates to file to run opened on Monday, July 15, and typically runs until 5 p.m. on Friday, August 9. If an incumbent doesn’t file to run again, there is a five-day extension until Aug. 14 for candidates other than the incumbent to file.
The other three members of MVLA’s school board – Thida Cornes, Esmeralda Ortiz and Catherine Vonnegut – were elected in 2022 and their terms run through 2026.

Dearest MV Voice,
Would this possibly be a slightly better LINK? It is to the Candidate information page of the Registrar of Voters. ‘How to Run for Office’
